Birth:
Syed Ali Hajveri R.A. born in the house of Hazrat Uthman R.A. The native home of Syed Ali Hajveri R.A. was an area known as Hajver within the limits of City Ghazni, situated in Afghanistan.
The name of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh is Ali’ and Kunniyat (family name) is Abu Al-Hassan. The birth place is the well-known populous city Ghazni (Afghanistan). Ghazni was a native town of great king Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi. Sultan Mahmud was so much devoted for prosperity of the Islam that he became famous with the nickname as ‘But Shikan’ (Idol destroyer).
Ghazni had two certain localities (Muhalla) at that time. One of them was known as Jalab and the other as Hajver. It is said that in one locality was settled the family of his own grandparents and the other was abode of his grand maternal parents. The father’s name of his majesty is Hazrat Uthman (Usman). This enlightened child was born in the prestigious family of the Hazrat Uthman.
And peace be on him, the day he was born, the day he dies and the day he will be raised up alive.
The birth year of Hazrat Syed Ali Hajveri R.A is 400 A.H. This was the period of ascendency of Ghazni Sultanate. The shining star of Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi’s regime was about to sink.
Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh during the early years of the age lived in the Jalab while some period of that age, he also stationed at the Hajver. That was the reason, being related to these two places, he had been referred as Jallabi as well as Hajveri by the biographers. The majority of the writers refer to him as Hajveri while some mention with both localities Jallabi then (Summa) Hajveri. In his book Kashf Al-Mahjoob, the supreme scholar has mentioned his name as Ali Ibn Uthman Ibn Ali Al-Jallabi summa Al-Hajveri.
Child’s Name Selection:
The original name of his majesty is Ali. The father’s name was Uthman and grandfather’s name again Ali. It reflects love of his majesty family with the name Ali. Child of this name was grown in the Lap of Prophet S.A.W. i.e. Hazrat Ali A.S.
Please meditate the name of the father; the father’s name is Uthman. It instantly recalls, the name of Hazrat Uthman, companion of the Prophet S.A.W. Hazrat Uthman R.A. was the 3rd Caliph after the Prophet S.A.W. Some fictitious Scholars claim that Ahl e Bayat were tortured by some companions of the Prophet S.A.W including Hazrat Uthman R.A.
Please consider that when Child’s name is taken, it is always based on some standards. Parents chose the Child’s name with all spiritual love and tenderness. The name is always selected that inhales freshness and pleasure to their hearts. The grandfather, Hazrat Ali R.A. had taken name Uthman for his Son; it proves that relation between the Ahl e Bayat and the Companion of Prophet S.A.W like a blood relation.
Lineage
The lineage of his majesty joins to the Prophet S.A.W, his majesty was born in ninth succession. This honorable Child owned the blood of Holy Prophet S.A.W. The Prophet S. A. W‘s descendants would stay shining till end.
Allah intends only to remove all impurity of sins from you, O People of the House (of the Prophet, [even a doubt or trace of shortfall,]) and make you absolutely pure and clean by blessing you with (perfect) purity and wholesomeness.
The home of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh was the unique place where devotees and lovers were used to pay homage and respect with all zeal and zest. His mother was a gentlewoman of great veneration and devoted to the Allah’s worship. She was sympathetic for the improvement and well-being of the destitute and refuge for the deprived ones. She belonged to Hussaini Syed Lineage. It implies that she possessed venturous spirit of Hussaini perfectionism in one fold and the Hasni embellishment in another fold at the same time.
His maternal uncle was reputed and respected personality, title bearer of ‘Taj Al-Aulya’. It is stated that when Prince Dara Shakoh in the company of the emperor father Shah Jahan went for an excursion visit to Afghanistan, he visited and paid respect to the shrine (Mazar) of Hazrat Taj Al-Aulya. He enriched himself with the spiritual blessings and earned assurances for his ventures and expeditions. Adjacent to the shrine (Mazar) of Hazrat Taj Al-Aulya is the shrine (Mazar) of his sister and the mother of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh.
Dear people of the house, (showered) upon you are Mercy and Blessings of Allah. Indeed He (is) Praiseworthy, Glorious.’

Acquisition of Academic Knowledge:
The key source of information about the personal life events of Hazrat Syed Ali Hajveri is his Grand Matchless Book universally acclaimed as Kashf Al- Mahjoob (Unveiling the veiled). Some important events of his holy life are extracted here from that sacred book. There are multiple hints and references in that book. Those hints and references indicate that since his early life he had been fond of acquiring the knowledge of religious spiritualism and divine wisdom.
He was bestowed by the Allah, an enlightened craze of paying respect to and acquiring knowledge from the illustrious scholars. Syed Ali Hajveri acquired the primary academic knowledge of his native place and nearby settlements. Then he crossed over the bounds of his native place and proceeded to travel to Syria, Iraq, Baghdad, Madain, Faras (Persia), Kohistan, Azar Baijan, Tabristan, Khuzistan, Khurasan, Mawara’un Nahr.
He offered himself as a zealous pupil at the door steps of the great and well known scholars and learned persons. This inspired and instilled in him the quest of more and more knowledge in this field. He spared no pains and endeavors in the search of knowledge of Islam.
Spiritualism is a beacon light for the entire mankind. He cheerfully bore all the trials and tribulations without diminishing in any measure the zeal for the knowledge.
Syed Ali Hajveri writes at one instant while describing his journeys for the search of knowledge.
“Only in Kharasan I paid my personal respects to no less than three hundred religious scholars and acquired knowledge and enriched myself from the treasures and reservoirs of these knowledge and enlightenments”.
Of these many teachers from whom he sought knowledge, he respectfully mentioned the two teachers, one of them was Shaikh Abul Abbas Ahmad Ibn Muhammad Al-Ashqani and the name of the other reverend scholar was Shaikh Abul Qasim Ali Gurgani.
Professor Nicholson, who was the teacher of Arabic and Persian in Cambridge University and who had the honor of translating Kashf Al-Mahjoob in English, pens down the avidity and quest of the knowledge achieved Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh in these dazzling worlds.
“He undertook journeys to distant Islamic countries, from Syria to Turkistan in search of knowledge. He travelled extensively and searching almost every tract of land from Sind to Caspian Sea”.
Acquisition of Spiritual Knowledge:
After acquisition of academic knowledge, he diverted his searching energy in the pursuit of the accomplished spiritual teacher. He undertook long and distant arduous travels in search of a personality who can pacify his zest for spiritual knowledge. Allah, the Almighty, mercifully guided him as a reward for his honest, sincere and painstaking travels to the august personality. The august personality of his search became his long life companion.
The noble name of the Perfect Spiritual Guide of Hazrat Syed Ali Hajveri was Shaikh Abul Fazl Ibn Hasan Khattali who was the Shaikh e Kamal of Junaidiya Chain. The Bayat (Allegiance or fealty) chain of Hazrat Syed Ali Hajveri proceeds as described below.

The Spiritual Chain of Hazrat Syed Ali Hajveri ascends to the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. as follows;

Spiritual Journeys
Hazrat Syed Ali Hajveri conducted several journeys towards the shrine personalities to achieve the spiritual enrichment. The visit to the shrine of Hazrat Bilal in Syria and Hazrat Abu Saeed Abul Khair in Mehna are exclusively mentioned in the book Kashf Al-Mahjoob.
These journeys were not just wandering (or Saer o Sayyaht), but venerated travels in the journey of spiritual perfection. These journeys are mandatory for each and every Allah’s friend. Usually these are scheduled by Spiritual guides or mentors to enhance the spiritual level of the disciple. These schedules are finalized under the blessed guidance of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
The purpose of these noble visits is described by Holy Qur’an as follows;
They rejoice in these (blessings of eternal life) which Allah has conferred on them of His Bounty and also share glad tidings with their successors (on the path of faith and obedience), who have not (yet) joined them, for they shall also have neither any fear nor any grief.
They share glad tidings of blessing (of divine disclosures of the nearness) of Allah and His Bounty (of pleasures of Union with Him) and (also) because Allah does not waste the reward of the believers.
Matrimonial Life
There is no mention about the matrimonial life of Hazrat Syed Ali Hajveri except for a brief mention in Kashf Al-Mahjoob that he had married, but the separation took place and thereafter he did not solemnize the second marriage during the rest of the life.
Journey to the Lahore
His spiritual mentor name is Hazrat Abu Al Fazal Muhammad Ibn Hassan Khutli.
In Islam, it is mandatory that every believer should join to some accomplished spiritual mentor. Accomplishment is not achieved by learning the literary knowledge, but by burning the bones of the self. Spiritual mentor not only cares for literal knowledge to his disciple, but also spiritual knowledge and nourishes his spiritual health. A stranded (not bound to any spiritual mentor) believer surely gets victimized by Satan conspiracies and intrigues.
After the demise (Wesal) of his Spiritual Director, the revered personality (Sarkar) left his native town Ghazni for good and made his way to the Indian subcontinent which was strewn with idols and idol worshippers. He was accompanied by his spiritual colleagues Shaikh Ahmad Sarakhasi and Shaikh Abu Saeed Hajveri. It was 431 A.H and the reigning period of sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi. His reigning period sustained from 421 A.H. to 465 A.H
The great scholar settled in the suburbs of City Lahore. Allah’s light always associates with Allah’s friends. His physical existence proves blessing for the society. They beam to spread the spiritual light. Hearts observe that shine and people get nearer to them profoundly and willingly. Holy Qur’an states as:
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ ضَرَبَ اللّهُ مَثَلاً كَلِمَةً طَيِّبَةً كَشَجَرةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ أَصْلُهَا ثَابِتٌ وَفَرْعُهَا فِي السَّمَاءِ
Have you not seen how Allah sets forth the example: a good word is like a good tree? Its root is firm (in the earth) and its branches reach into the sky.
Literary Work
His majesty wrote many volumes, but merely one book proved everlasting. The name is Kashaf Al-Mahjoob (barriers unveiled). This script delineates the ways for a normal practicing believer to reach the supreme heights of spiritual excellence. The script is top ranked in the world in spiritual compositions corresponding to the personality of his majesty that is the top one in spiritual entities.
Preach to others is a very sensitive issue, it needs to be permitted by the spiritual mentors to their seasoned disciples to make sure that it is really benefiting and flourishing the humanity under the sway of the Islam.
Miracles
Miracle is the sign of blessing from Allah to His friends. Miracles exhibit of the spirit personalities round the clock, but some blessings prove everlasting. Let us address some remarkable miracles.
Restoration of Lahore Spiritual Ruler (named Rae Rajo)
I have used the word ‘restoration’ instead of ‘conversion’. The philosophy is that every human advent in this world provisioned with Islamic essence. Then he may sustain that or may derail when grows up in the society. Islam is the only true path and other are all deviations and false paths. So if someone returns from the false path back to the true path, then he does not convert but restores to the original status.
The society was suffering through the pitched darkness of the polytheism here in the Lahore at that time. In the spread of polytheism, Satan jinn play the key role in association with Satan humans. Satan humans enter into the affiliation of Satan Jinn to accomplish their evil wishes. Idols are posed in the front and Satan Jinn play in the background to fulfill the mundane avarices of the lost humanity. Satan humans play and proceed to spread polytheism for their financial and sensual benefits. These Satan humans are also called magicians.
The ruler of the city was a magician, patronizing polytheism named Rae Rajo.
City people were used to pay their milk to that magician to fulfill his lust and ego. A certain aged woman from the suburbs of the city was on his way to pay the milk to that magician. He was halted by Islamic scholar Syed Ali Hajveri R.A. and asked her the cause of this donation. She narrated that if she did not pay to Rae Rajo, he works out his mystical powers, that depletes her animals of milk and blood drains out of the bags of animals. She narrated all story behind this forced donation.
Islamic scholar assured her that if she commits him, she may get rid of that evil magician. She agreed and gained the consent of Syed Ali Hajveri. She followed and consequently her life was altered and became safe. People were distracted of that magician and stopped to donate the milk to him. Surely it was insulting and challenging scenario for that magician. He jumped into the confrontation as Pharaoh jumped against the Moses A.S and intended to exhibit his mystical powers. People were gathered to witness the incident. He exercised his mystical powers and flew in the sky. It is narrated that to counter him, a shoe was waved in the air by his majesty to target him. People watched the scene that Shoe was beating the magician’s head and he collapsed to Earth.
The magician Rae Rajo got defeated.
And the example of an evil word is like that of an evil tree which is uprooted from the surface of the earth (and) which has no chance to get firm (in the soil and survive).
Rae Rajo accepted that the supreme power is Allah and not Satan or associated idols.
He joined Syed Ali Hajveri and got extreme spiritual benefits. His name was Rae Rajo and after getting the Syed Ali Hajveri’s friendship he became Sheikh Hindi. His descendants populated in Lahore, even today are brilliant disciples of the great scholar Syed Ali Hajveri R.A.
Qibla Direction Assertion:
It is tradition of Islamic Scholars that wherever they settle, they immediately construct the mosque to offer prayers. We can visualize this aspect in the life of the Holy Prophet S.A.W. His majesty, Syed Ali Hajveri, also constructed a mosque.
In those days there were no astrological instruments and the people were used to assert Qibla direction by the sun route and its tail. When the Mosque was completed, someone objected that Qibla direction was not correct. Soon it became the talk of the town, everyone was discussing the disputed and dubious direction of the Qibla ascertained for the mosque.
Data Syed Ali Hajveri was highly mindful about that debate and was imploring Allah’s virtue to settle the dispute. It worked, along a certain day while the great Scholar was leading the prayer; the people were astonished and surprised to see the Khana Ka’bah just in front of them. The location where that incident came about, still sustains its identification near the tomb.
Emergence of the Fountain:
On arrival in Lahore, the great scholar selected a place to stay, but in that place there was no water provision. The great scholar praised to Allah and pushed his cane (wooden stick) in the earth. The response to this push was amazing and water sprang off the ground instantly and a fountain was constructed at that very location. That fountain still exists near the tomb. The water of this fountain is a very blessed one and people used to take this blessed and revered water to their homes. It heals the patients. I, the admin of this blog, own self experience in that concern. Whenever I feel a fever or any other infection, I rarely seek Doctor. I simply approach to that fountain, used to stay there a few hours and drank water with time intervals.
Thanks to Allah JSN, I always got the Cure.
Demise (Wesal):
The Scholar Jami Lahori indicated the year of demise as 465 A.H. derived from the calculation of numerical values. The numerical breakup of the Abjad letters comprising the word ‘SRDAR’ along with numerical values of these letters is as follows:
Letter ‘SEEN’, value 60
Letter ‘Ray’, value 200
Letter ‘Dal’, value 4
Letter ‘Alif’, value 1
Letter ‘Ray’, value 200
Total SRDAR = 465
Allah JSN is ever pleased with his dear friend Syed Ali Hajveri.
His two disciples accompany him after his ‘Wesal’ also.
The graves of Shaikh Ahmad Sarakhasi and Shaikh Abu Saeed Hajveri are side by side with Syed Ali Hajveri. It is beautiful orientation, looks like affectionate father is embracing his children.
Present Scenario
The life of spiritual entities does not end at the conclusion of this apparent life. They perform all the noble activities while residing in the off scene world. The shrine is a source of blessings and thousands of lucky people are availing the Allah’s bounties descending on the Shrine of Syed Ali Hajveri round the clock.
God bless this great scholar and his shrine forever!
